FOOD by Avery Robinson, Israel – Photo Essay-

I see a lot of food photography these days, and most of it, including my own, is of unblemished dishes. The ripest fruits, the most succulents heirloom vegetables, perfectly glazed and dusted sweets, etcetera etcetera. But what about the food we actually eat? What does that look like? We savor the uneaten perfection, but rarely do we take a moment to think about the process of eating. Here are some images taken this year to begin this conversation. Featured: Moroccan mufletta, me eating Palestinian fatayer, loquat, croissant scraps, Moroccan sfenj.  
This is just one example of the important work produced YaLa’s citizen journalists, a program funded by the European Union’s Peacebuilding Initiative in order to enable young leaders from across the Middle East and North Africa to document and share their experiences of the region.
